Templepatrick 10 Upp Ardoyne 0
half-time 5-0 - full-time 10-0
Scorers: Curtis (3), Christopher (3), Darren (2), Matthew, Paul
A very pleasing result against a poor Upper Ardoyne team. The first half, we played some really good football trying to keep the ball on the ground and passing to each other. Although at times we were maybe trying too hard. We are going to have to watch the offside trap a bit more, as we were being caught out a lot during the whole game. The score could and should have been a lot higher if we were more aware of where the opposition players are in relation to us.
Curtis scored direct from a corner for his first, drilled the ball in from 6 yards for his 2nd and lobbed the goalie from outside the box for his hat-trick.
Darren scored a beauty from a volley from about 20 yards and in the second half ran down the right hand side and cut into the box and beat the goalie for his second.
Christopher got off the mark this season with a hat-trick with one goal coming before half time when he ran on to a through ball and beat the dive from the goalie. He then went on to score two more well taken goals in the second half to complete his hat-trick.
Matthew then scored goal no.9 with a mazy run through a bedraggled Ardoyne defence before slotting home.
Paul finally scored his first goal for the club after three years of trying from 18 yards - well done.
Unfortunatley for us, we lost our shape during the second half with players drifting out of position trying to go for a goal (or was it glory?). We really need to be disciplined during the game by keeping our shape and playing for one another and keep encouraging each other even if things don't always go to plan (see offside).
A Win was needed today and we did it with a clean sheet too!! Well done to all boys today - another win next Saturday v Barn
WEEKLY TIP:
Offside Rule: A player is deemed to be offside when the ball is played and there is no defender between you and the goalkeeper when you first make an attempt to play the ball. (Watch any Premier/Foreign or International match to see what that is).
