Important News - Under 14's

15th October 2008.

It is with huge regret that we have had to withdraw the Under 14 squad from East Antrim Youth League and are in the process of closing down this squad. We can't continue to be fined for not fulfilling league fixtures and from 15 letters sent out last week I only received 8 responses - 6 positive and 2 negative - an 11 a side squad cannot survive on those numbers! Thank you to all those who took time to write/email or phone me - it was appreciated.

In a separate letter I will provide details on:

1) The return of TAYFC kit to the club
2) Contact names and numbers for Antrim Rovers, Ballyclare Comrades & Chimney Corner who all have Under 14 squads for players to contact and trial with in the area.

It is a sad decision for the club and to those boys who wanted to play for Templepatrick. I will keep names on files should anything happen in order to re-group this age group for next season.

Thank you to those players, who over the past seasons have committed to the club, the coaches and the parents for their time also.

Saturday 11th October - Game Cancelled

It is sincere regret that I have to cancel/forfeit yet another Under 14 game for this Saturday 11th October 2008.

As at this morning (08:30) from 15 letters sent to registered players I have received just 7 responses - 6 positive & 1 negative - this hardly bodes well for an 11 man squad to play competitively in the East Antrim Youth League - we will be fined again for not fielding a team!

Sorry it has come to this - but without the responses I don't know how we can move forward

Football Trials

Leeds United are having an Open Trial for boys aged 8 to 16.

It will be held at Mallusk Playing Fields on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

The cost per boy is £50.00, payable to Leeds United.

Arrangements for Saturday 21st June

Tournament - 21st June

Venue: Cregagh Sports Club, Gibson Park

Where: Gibson Park Avenue, Woodstock Road, Belfast.

Directions: The Football pitch is situated between Tesco's and Iceland on the Woodstock Road. Turn left at Tescos into Gibson Park Avenue and then turn right into Cregagh Sports Club grounds before the concrete bollards.

Time: Please meet at the Venue for 12 noon. The event lasts until 16.45 with the presentation of prizes and awards at 17.15.

Matches: Our first game starts at approx 1.50pm against Orangefield and our next game against Oliver Plunkett is at approx 3.35pm. All games last for about 35 minutes.

What to wear: Red Raintops, Red Kits (which I'll bring), Blue kits (in case of colour clash), Bottle of water, £1.50.

We have been invited by the Northern Ireland u15 girls squad to play in a series of friendlies next Sunday 6th April at 10.30 am at The Dub Playing Fields, Malone Road, Belfast (near the House of Sport) All members of the u13 boys squad are asked to attend (21 in total).
I believe the format of the matches will consist of three 30 minute sessions.
This is a big honour for us - so please be there at 9.45am.

Training this week is at Templepatrick Primary School from 6.30 pm to 8.00pm on Wednesday night. This will be the case from this week.

How to get there: From Templepatrick head up towards International airport, turn left at roundabout signposted Moira/Crumlin, turn right at next turn and drive through Killead Village. At the end of this road turn right and we should meet here for entry into RAF Aldergrove.

Saturdays match v Barn

Another great performance from everyone (including all the subs).

I think we totally surprised Barn with the way we played, being competitive, challenging for the ball, creating chances, scoring two good goals and most of all, NOT GIVING UP.

Keep this level of effort up and the results will be coming our way, hopefully with a win against Ballysillan. A couple of wins and we should move up the table a couple of places.

Congratulations to Christopher C. for scoring on his debut for the Club. He joins Glynn, Darren and Ryan who also scored on their debuts.

How to get there: Go past Stormont, Dundonald Cemetry and take right at traffic lights towards Comber. The pitch is about 3-4 miles down this road on the right-hand-side just past the Billy Neill Centre. Turn right on to the Coach Road.

We need to leave Templepatrick at 9.20 am sharp.

Weather conditions are to be very poor tonight but better in the morning. Make sure you bring extra layer of clothes to keep warm.

McDonalds afterwards? Bring money and we will go to McD's at Dundonald.
